Bolton & Menk is in search of an experienced Transportation Client Services Coordinator to join our Transportation Group in the Twin Cities. Be part of our growing Transportation Group and work collaboratively with our Transportation Principals and Marketing Team to support the process of successful project pursuits for our Twin Cities Transportation clientele.

You will lead efforts in executing business development plans for key clients and assist in coordinating and understanding each client’s processes from pre-proposal to post selection. You will document proposal budgets, cost-to-fee ratios, and other miscellaneous metrics for ongoing benchmarks and best practices for specific client(s) business development plans. In this role you will also assist with the development and tracking of strategic initiatives and work with our Client Service Managers to prepare annual business development plans for our Twin Cities clients. You will also serve as a liaison during the proposal process between our Client Service Managers and our Proposal Specialists to assist with the proposal cycle from the development of proposal win strategies through proposal submittal while professionally positioning Bolton & Menk, Inc. to win proposals and future work.

  • Assist with developing and tracking strategic initiatives for the firm and transportation work group
  • Work with Client Service Managers (CSM), service leaders, and Transportation Principals to prepare annual business development plans for up to 10 key clients.
  • Lead efforts in executing business development plans for key clients:
    • Prospecting – Research and gather information on potential project leads and client needs, coordinate and track business development opportunities via CRM. Establish a strong understanding of clients, leadership structure, staff relationships, decision-making authority, and administrative processes. Work with Principals to prioritize opportunities and positioning strategies.
    • Positioning – Facilitate client and project team strategy sessions on potential opportunities. Develop win strategies and follow-up action items. Identify, develop, and evaluate proposal content including project team member role description and relevant project team experience.
    • Proposal – Confirm the win strategy is clearly articulated in persuasive proposals and statement of qualifications documents. Work with pursuit Principal and/or proposed Project Manager to prepare proposal content and incorporate input from service and discipline leads, subconsultants, and positioning efforts. Coordinate proposal development and production with corporate marketing and graphic specialists. Develop fee estimates and schedules under the direction of the Project Manager.
    • Performance – Assist in efforts for developing project spotlights, articles, photos, and award applications; coordinate with corporate marketing and communication staff to identify external brand enhancement opportunities; coordinate with administrative staff for organization affiliations, memberships, and sponsorships
  • Lead win-to-work phase post selection, understanding each client’s processes for developing final scopes, schedules, and budgets, and executing the final contract for delivery
  • Lead efforts to document proposal budgets, cost-to-fee ratios, and other miscellaneous metrics for ongoing benchmarks and best practices for specific client(s) business development plans
  • Develop and maintain an intimate knowledge of the transportation industry, key client organizations, and industry leaders.

Other Duties may include:

  • Identify decision-makers within prospective client organizations and establish meaningful contact through cold calling, emails, social networking, and meetings
  • Participate in business/social/professional organizations and events, including conferences, that promote or generate business relationships
  • Lead work group business development teams to develop best practices and consistency of efforts, provide communication between teams, and document action items and opportunities in CRM
  • Coordinate client meetings for 4 P’s and for proposal debriefs

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public administration, civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
  • 3 or more years of experience in sales, business development or proposal development
  • Demonstrated knowledge in strategic market planning, market research, plan implementation, business development, and promotions
  • Strong skills in client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of client satisfaction
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and procedures
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Client Resource Management (CRM) software such as Deltek Vision
  • Experience developing simple graphics with desktop publishing software a plus (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign)
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to see the big picture.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Planning or engineering background within a professional services firm is preferred
  • Experience with project management
  • Knowledge of marketing/client databases and proposal processes
