Over the past 30 years, U.S. News has established a reputation as a data-driven force in the higher education landscape. As our new Product Analyst, you'd know the ins and outs of the performance of our current products and be the go-to resource for setting up measurement plans. You'd play an integral role in helping your colleagues improve our products through qualitative analysis and determine if the ROI of a new initiative is positive.

 

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Use web analytics, partner reports, and other tools to develop recommendations that will grow our web audience and business

  • Use our tracking systems to ensure that we’re measuring our audience accurately and in ways that make sense, including tagging, event tracking, and pathing.

  • Work with stakeholders across departments to understand what KPIs are important from a priorities perspective and come up with a measurement plan

  • Project and track monthly revenue from a variety of sources

  • Work with partners to identify issues and areas for growth

  • Study the competitive landscape

  • Present findings and recommendations to colleagues

  • Support product responsibilities such as testing, requirements gathering, documentation and other aspects of the product lifecycle

 
Position Requirements

You should definitely have:

  • Intense curiosity about what the numbers can tell us

  • Exceptional quantitative and qualitative reasoning ability

  • Deep experience using Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics

  • Advanced experience with Excel (pivot tables, index match, Report Builder, and vlookups)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills to clearly explain and interpret the numbers without jargon

  • Comfort working with a variety of stakeholders including executives, product managers, developers, designers, writers and editors

  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and UI/UX principles

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

  • Some experience working in or closely with performance marketing

  • Some experience working in or closely with digital media

 

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience with digital product management

  • Experience with a tag manager, ad server, demand side platform, and other digital media systems (e.g., Tealium, Doubleclick, comScore, Krux, Sailthru)

  • Experience with surveys and user research methods

  • A strong understanding of statistical concepts

  • Strong design and PowerPoint skills to visualize data

  • Experience with app analytics a plus
