Position Design Build Crew Member  
Description

Strategic Importance of this Role to the Company:

The Design Build Crew Member shares Hidden Creek’s vision of providing exceptional customer service to all of its many clients. This position is responsible for assisting the Foreman with all aspects of daily work. You will help to ensure the client’s expectations for site quality and services are being met or exceeded.

The Crew Member will be responsible for performing a variety of work tasks in order to assist with the completion of landscape construction projects. You will be the foreman’s main “go to” on the jobsite and fill in temporarily if and when the foreman is indisposed. You will also be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks.

Responsibilities in this position are:

Daily:

  • Communicate with your Foreman to plan out the day
  • Assist your Foreman in the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM including all daily labor, equipment and materials required to complete daily objectives.
  • Ability to drive company truck and pull trailers when needed.
  • Assist the work of crew members to ensure proper safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Inspect all work for quality to eliminate the need for return visits and/or re-work due to quality or customer satisfaction issues.
  • Make sure assigned jobs are complete, within budgeted hours, and quality of service exceeds customer expectations.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Conduct before and after inspections of job site.
  • Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas.
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out with safety, quality, and efficiency standards, and that all crew members are in compliance with company policies and regulations and government and Safety PPE (Personal protection Equipment) standards.
  • Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Strive to improve job skills and develop the potential for upward mobility.
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations.
  • Report site issues, concerns or possible improvements on site to your Foreman.
  • In Foreman absence, ensure total job completeness and job standards are met.
  • Operate various pieces of equipment including, but not limited to Skid Steer, Excavator, Mini Skid Steer and Saws.
  • Various work assignments including patio installation, retaining walls, water features, low voltage lighting, plant installations & maintenance, wooden structures and masonry.
  • Report any sales leads to your Foreman.

Weekly:

  • Perform crew equipment audit.
  • Wash all equipment, trucks and trailers assigned to you.
  • Check fluids / grease points on all equipment, trucks and trailers.
  • Report any material shortages to your Foreman.
  • Meet with your Forman about upcoming equipment needs and planning.

Monthly:

  • Help maintain company vehicle, trailer, and equipment cleanliness.
  • Be able to perform a minor equipment repair such as pull cord replacement, spark plug replacement, belt repair, and tension adjusts. Above that please fill out equipment repair form and let your Foreman schedule further repairs with the mechanic.
  • Work with Foreman on any training needs that may need obtained.
  • Recruit possible new employees for all divisions.

Learning Program:

  • Each employee is asked to always be reading, listening to, or watching a developmental book, audio or video. Upon completion of material and a short written summary/presentation of learning’s and opportunities; the full cost of the material plus a $50 bonus will be paid.
  • For those team members interested in becoming a Certified Landscape Technician or one of the other industry certifications please see your managers for details.

Critical Drivers:

  • There are no customer complaints, all projects assigned to the team receive Customer Satisfaction Surveys with above average or excellent scores for all projects
  • Meet or beat budgeted hours for each project assigned to the team and have no return trips to job site after completion
  • Attendance is above average or excellent
  • All vehicles, equipment and tools are returned in good shape and nothing is lost
