Position Design Build Foreman  
Description

Strategic Importance of this Role to the Company:

The Hardscape Foreman is a pivotal part of the Division Build and to the success of Hidden Creek Landscaping. This position is responsible for ensuring that the client’s expectations for site quality and services are being met or exceeded by managing, coordinating and monitoring the performance of their crews assigned to them. You will also be responsible for daily equipment monitoring, job site safety and load securement.

As the Hardscape Foreman you will supervise a crew of laborers and train your crews to be able to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks, as well provide daily progress reporting on job sites and completing all paper work on a daily basis. Time management is key with this position, as you will be performing multiple tasks per day and performing problem solving to complete jobs in a timely manner. This position will also either drive a snow plow truck or run a sidewalk crew for snow removal.

Roles and responsibilities in this position are:

  • Responsible for supervising a team of 2 to 4 crew members.
  • Evaluate crew members verbally on a daily/weekly basis of how he/she is performing their job expectations and on a written basis quarterly.
  • Assisting your Project Manager/Operations Manager in the hiring/firing of crew members.
  • Oversee crew to make sure assigned jobs are complete, within budgeted hours, and quality of service exceeds customer expectations.
  • Supervise and train crew members to ensure proper safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Inspect all work for quality to eliminate the need for return visits and/or re-work due to quality or customer satisfaction issues.
  • Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas.
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE (Personal protection Equipment) standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations.
  • Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Report site issues, concerns or possible improvements on site to your Project Manager.
  • Operate various pieces of equipment including but not limited to Skid Steer, Excavator, Dingo and various saws.
  • Complete various work assignments including patio installation, retaining walls, water features, low voltage lighting, plant installations & maintenance, wooden structures and masonry.
  • Assist Project Manager in ordering/scheduling of materials, equipment and subcontractors.
  • Meet with city inspectors to ensure all phases of job are inspected and have passed.

Daily:

  • Communicate with Project Manager to plan out the day.
  • Manage the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM including all daily labor, equipment and materials required to complete daily objectives.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Conduct before and after inspections of job site.
  • Assist your crew in the completion of required tasks for job sites.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork on a daily basis, including: daily time and service record forms, equipment daily inspection forms and observe posted construction schedule.

Weekly:

  • Quality Control of Job Site.
  • Update Equipment Tracker.
  • Perform crew equipment audit.
  • Wash all equipment, trucks and trailers assigned to you.
  • Check fluids / grease points on all equipment, trucks and trailers.
  • Be able to perform minor equipment a repair such as pull cord replacement, spark plug replacement, belt repair, and tension adjusts. Above that please fill out equipment repair form and let your Operations Manager schedule further repairs with the mechanic.
  • Update production trackers in computer on common network.
  • Review your job site tracker- Are you winning or losing?
  • Make aware of any material shortages to your Project Manager.
  • Meet with Manager about upcoming jobs, equipment needs and planning.
  • Must be able to communicate with other division Foreman’s during bi-weekly meetings.
  • Develop new relations with current service providers.
  • Follow up with any potential sales leads on your own or with your Project Manager/Operations Manager.

Monthly:

  • Vehicle, trailer, and equipment inspections.
  • Responsible for performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Perform maintenance on pieces of equipment around shop.
  • Ensure the grounds are kept tidy and well organized.
  • Recruit possible new employees for all divisions.
  • Attend monthly company meetings.

Learning Program:

  • Each employee is asked to always be reading, listening to, or watching a developmental book, audio or video.
  • Upon completion of material and a short written summary/presentation of learning’s and opportunities; the full cost of the material plus a $50 bonus will be paid.
