SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Support staff as appropriate and students.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Instructional Technologist delivers professional development to faculty, students, administration, and staff on how to use the College's Learning Management System (Canvas) and other related software. A major part of his/her responsibilities will be to work with faculty to incorporate technology into traditional, hybrid, and online courses. The Instructional Technologist will work in close collaboration with the Instructional Designers to provide a coherent program of instruction for online courses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cultivate and nurture a culture of collaboration and collegiality among the staff in the Information Technology and the Online Education and Innovation Departments.

Provide one-on-one professional development to faculty on the usability, functionality and best practices of Canvas and related software to improve teaching and learning.

Develop and deliver workshops to faculty on the different functions of Canvas and related software to improve teaching and learning.

Develop a strong knowledge base on the use of Canvas and related software.

Remain current on ongoing advances in Canvas and evaluate prototypes of new educational technology.

Stay abreast of the newest and related software affecting teaching and learning.

Develop and sustain a strong collaborative partnership with Student Support Services and Accessibility, ensuring a student-centered oriented use of technology with emphasis on Universal Design.

Develop and sustain a strong collaborative partnership with Instructional Designers, ensuring a cohesive professional development experience for faculty.

Develop and sustain a strong collaborative partnership with faculty, providing them with continued support on their face-to-face, hybrid and online teaching.

Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by the CIO of IT and the Associate Provost of OEI.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in information systems or instructional technology is preferred. Two years' experience in instructional technology or distance learning is preferred. Basic knowledge of online course design. Basic knowledge on applying the Quality Matters Rubric. Ability to identify appropriate technologies to enhance teaching, improve learning, and achieve learning objectives. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills needed; customer service orientation is essential, as a major part of the duties requires being able to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students. Proficiency in managing the Canvas Learning Management system is highly desirable.
