Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall program operations: plans, directs, and oversees both staff and student interns.
  • Ensures the program is maintaining its level of service, documentation standards, confidentiality procedures and integrity and consistency of the delivery of service. Assures departmental goals and/or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame by performing the job responsibilities personally or through subordinate staff. 
  • Maintains confidentiality and immediately reports to management breaches in confidentiality.
  • Observes and maintains appropriate professional boundaries with clients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Provides direct supervision to assigned staff in order to enhance their skills sets, leadership qualities and administrative functions.
  • Reviews staff responsibilities to determine time frame and scope of authority, reviews staffing requirements, and allotments of available resources.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provides direct supervision to staff and student interns.
  • Works and communicates with Office of Kinship Navigator Services within the DFCP, as well as other entities with regards to referrals, participant flow processes, information sharing and the coordination of required support services.
  • Works on a one-to-one basis with targeted population, which includes home visits for the previously listed services, if appropriate.
  • Employs field staff for eligibility verification and case management purposes for assisting Kinship families in the geographic region of service selected.
  • Establishes strong neighborhood and community linkages that will be able to meet the varied needs of the targeted population.
  • Assures that all direct client contact staff participate in a training program, provided by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, on detecting and reporting possible incidences of child abuse and neglect.
  • Provides services and/or supportive interventions including case management, linkage to community resources and provides inter-agency coordination of treatment and after-care planning.
  • Maintains documentation of cases reviewed, monthly program statistics/LOS reports and utilization reviews of cases.
  • Develops and manages a service payment process by which payments for the requested and approved services/items are paid in a timely manner via voucher or direct payment to the vendor.
  • Understands/is knowledgeable of program funding and monitors annual expenditures.
  • Must have the ability to evaluate and identify mental, emotional, behavioral and/or associated distresses in an individual, the family or group.
  • Must have the ability and tools to utilize to perform and prepare an assessment and evaluation that establishes goals and objectives.
  • Must have the ability to conduct client centered advocacy; the service of providing a functions on behalf of individuals, families or groups to bring about or influence change to improve the quality of life, enhance empowerment and assure the basic rights of the client.
 
Position Requirements

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or other behavioral health discipline from an accredited college or university
  • At least 3 years documented work experience with children and families
  • Experience in supervision staff in program and team meetings
  • Understands and experience in supervising and motivating staff
  • Knowledge and experience in providing support to staff in stressful work environments
  • Valid driver's license required and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance
  • The position requires a provisional (LSW, LAC) or clinical license (LCSW, LPC).
