Description

SUMMARY: Under basic supervision, performs general receptionist duties and provides customer service to patients; collects patient information needed to compile medical bills.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Performs receptionist duties; answers phones and schedules appointments; greets and checks-in patients; records patient information, assists with billing insurance, and collecting payments.
  • Conducts intake interviews with new or readmitted patients to gather necessary administrative information; assists patients in completing paperwork, computes and verifies family income and size and places patient appropriately on sliding scale; explains billing policies and fees to patients.
  • Enters patient information, demographics, and billing information into computer system.
  • Responds to inquiries and interprets medical information for patients and nursing staff.
  • Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND two years of clerical or office work experience, preferably in a medical environment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.

 

Required Knowledge of:

  • Medical terminology and billing codes.
  • Medical intake screening based on medical knowledge of specific organizational practices.
  • Medical billing procedures and regulations.
  • Administrative and clerical procedures.
  • Practices and procedures of proving customer service.

 

Required Skills in:

  • Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software and some specialized software; operating standard office equipment.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Creating and maintaining records and confidential information.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Shift Days  
Hiring Range $16.79/hr - $18.99/hr
