Mental Health Technician - PRN 

Description

Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Technician to join our team on a PRN "as needed" basis. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Mental Health Tech provides direct client care, interacting with clients either individually or in a group setting.

The hours for this position vary between shifts on an "as needed" basis:

  • Monday thru Friday - 3 shifts (Day, Evening and Overnights)
  • Saturday & Sunday - 2 shifts (Day/Overnights)

 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Answer phones and accurately documents information from caller and route calls to appropriate party within the organization.
  • Will be responsible for conducting the initial intake and assist with the assessment to ensure that an initial treatment plan is developed that will help identify the services needed for client care.
  • Provides client and family with orientation to program and services.
  • Register clients in the client database ensuring that there is a client record and number assigned
  • Monitors and maintains documentation of client services, ensuring compliance with Agency policies and procedures, agencies’ standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of program/department/agency goals and targeted outcomes, and adheres to practice standards and to data collection and reporting protocols.
  • Attends and participates in program, staff meetings; and related community agency meetings as required/requested.
  • Performs outreach with clients/families, via phone, to help engage clients and families.
  • Organized, self-directed, works well independently and with others.
  • Ability to complete documentation in a timely and accurate manner
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent. Current or recent studies in behavioral healthcare a plus!
  • Ability to effectively use all devices, equipment, computer systems required to fulfill the essential functions of this position..
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and  written skills. Includes ability to adapt style of communication to audience.
  • Ability to facilitate planning meetings with individuals from multiple systems.
  • Ability to interact positively with staff and clients and maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to establish effective on-going working relationships with center staff.
  • Ability to adapt easily and readily to a changing environment and work priorities.
  • Experience / knowledge working in an Electronic Medical Record.
  • Complies with all Center policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to safely perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Clearance through the Kansas Child Abuse/Neglect Register and criminal background check.
  • Must be able to safely perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Protects confidential information; verifying existence of appropriate releases.
  • Photocopies requested materials as needed.
