Description

Job Scope

Leads the Rogers Maintenance Team to troubleshoot, maintain, repair and conduct preventative maintenance on all facility equipment and property. Must be able to juggle different requests to develop priorities. This is a working supervisor position.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Direct the personnel engaged in the maintenance and repair of plant equipment, machinery and facilities including shredder, conveyor systems and stationary baler; electronic and electrical repair; maintenance of buildings; basic repair of material handling equipment such as cranes, loaders, forklift and hoist; basic truck maintenance including both commercial motor vehicles and service trucks, as well as fabrication on trailers and boxes; and all other associated or related equipment. This includes preventative maintenance program, troubleshooting and repair, and performing hands-on maintenance work. Effectively prioritizes work and communicates the prioritization to the Facility Manager and to the maintenance team.
  • Provide mechanical expertise to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Make recommendation for external maintenance contract work for repairs that are beyond the internal maintenance team’s scope. May include quoting multiple vendors. Oversee external maintenance contractors as work is being completed on-site.
  • Orders spare or replacement parts and maintains inventory of incoming and existing parts to ensure productions needs are met.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records as needed to properly track and maintain equipment status.
  • Communicate successfully with other members of the maintenance team to ensure department and facility manager are informed on equipment availability. To include ensuring equipment operators complete and submit Daily Equipment Inspection reports; reviews these reports regularly and follows up appropriately based on indications from operators.
  • Evaluate equipment reliability and communicate status. Identify technical problems and provide practical solutions appropriate to the size and complexity of projects. Make recommendations for appropriate actions to improve performance proactively.
  • Actively promote plant safety programs and procedures that follow company and regulatory requirements, striving for continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Communicate regularly and timely both written and oral, with other members of the maintenance team and within the facility to ensure all appropriate are informed on equipment availability and current and future direction.
  • Cross-train members of maintenance to learn and support other functions; provide on-going training and development to both the maintenance team and designated equipment operators.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required for success in this role.

Position Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • 3-5 years leading a maintenance team, required
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • DOT knowledge, preferred
  • Diesel power over hydraulic experience, preferred
  • Two-year AAS (technical degree) and/or technical certification in welding, hydraulics, electrical systems or industrial mechanics preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic functions of arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Computer ratio, rate, and percent.
  • Ability to do welding and fabricating work, preferred.(inspect)
  • Must have experience troubleshooting low voltage circuitry – 24 volt; 12 volt; or 10 volt.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills required. Timely follow up is critical in this position. Communications must be detailed, respectful and constructive.
  • Must be able to operate computer, calculator, cell-phone and two-way radio.
  • Familiarity with heavy mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, and material separators a plus
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30-50 pounds.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel to communicate and track information.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
