Therapist - Youth - Sunflower House 


Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Youth Therapist to join our PACES - South (Sunflower House) youth therapy team! The Therapist provides short-term therapeutic intervention, admission evaluations, and crisis interventions for Youth and will assist in other Outpatient functions. This position will require travel between various community sites, as needed.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Will provide specialized therapeutic interventions as appropriate to training and experience.
  • Will maintain caseload of clients/consumers in need of short-term treatment.
  • Provides targeted therapy services for a program for youth with problematic sexual behaviors.
  • Identifies strengths and needs of client/consumer and families and acts to involve them in planning for desired services.
  • Familiarizes client/consumer with community resources for educational, cultural, recreational, and social activities.
  • Works with other agencies to refer and secure adequate services.
  • Will complete emergency intake assessments and provide therapeutic crisis interventions.
  • Provides resource location/acquisition and resource coordination with area agencies.
  • Will provide liaison duties to community agencies, as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by immediate supervisor or designate.

  • Must be currently licensed in the state of Kansas and in good standing.
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.Communicates directly and effectively in a cooperative manner representatives of other agencies.
  • Familiar with mental health theory and practice.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and as needed for after hours to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Previous experience as a mental health therapist doing trauma treatment with children; EMDR, TF-CBT, and/or Play Therapy training is preferred.
  • This position requires being comfortable working with children and their families who have experienced trauma (including physical and sexual abuse) and who exhibit problematic sexual behaviors. A high level of professionalism is expected to serve these client families.
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Hours Monday-Fridays, 8am-5pm with occasional evening work
