About the Organization The Houston SPCA, founded in 1924, is Houston's first and largest animal protection organization and shelter. Our mission is to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation. The Houston SPCA is a private, non-profit charity, funded entirely by donations, which receives no funding from the Government, United Way or national animal groups.

Description

Primary Purpose:

The Digital Marketing and Database Coordinator (Coordinator) will play a key role in supporting vital aspects of the Development and Marketing (Team) by managing all aspects of Houston SPCA digital fundraising CRM tool.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Responsible for management of online CRM tool (EveryAction)
  • Coordinate directly with the agency of record (Pursuant) to build trackable campaign pages, report success, and ensure deliverability.
  • Understand all aspects of EveryAction database function and can build simple and complex queries for marketing efforts.
  • Ability to perform primary database functions like bulk list uploads, deduping, updating donor records, creating tracking codes, and other duties.
  • Work in conjunction with the database manager to ensure all data in EveryAction is prepared for weekly synchronization with the donor database of record which is Raiser's Edge.
  • Proactively seek to utilize tools within EveryAction to enhance fundraising and communications efforts on behalf of Houston SPCA
  • Coordinate with departments outside of Development/Marketing to ensure reporting is accurate for areas not related to fundraising.
  • Build out functionality as needed, including event ticketing, peer to peer fundraising efforts and storytelling.
  • Reviews and analyze SEO analytics provided from Senior Director of Special Projects
  • Creates a filing system for all analytical reports as well as digital assets like a photo library
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director of Special Projects and Digital Marketing Manager to strategize and improve website content related to forms, feedback, donations, and information gathering.
  • Works with the Senior Director of Special Projects and Agency of Record to strategically review analytics and content to ensure user engagement is high and utilizes new technologies.
  • Graphic design/provides content for online form creative, appeal landing pages, events, online forms, etc.
  • Assists with monitoring and moderating conversations on social media platforms.
  • Represents the Houston SPCA by providing excellent customer service and focus.
  • Protects all confidential information, including donors, clients, animals and internal communications.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, skill and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • 3 years of content/editorial experience in the digital field is required,
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g. marketing or digital marketing or related field) is required.
  • Experience with both writing and graphic design is preferred.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and WordPress is preferred.
  • Experience with nonprofit database management (Luminate, EveryAction, Classy or similar) is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of digital space, social media, emerging tech, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrates excellence in organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and drive projects to completion.
  • Demonstrate an ability and eagerness to learn, be resourceful and proactive, adapt to changes and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use good judgment, take initiative, anticipate issues and make recommendations in resolving problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with internal and external stakeholders and work well in a team environment.
  • Must represent the Houston SPCA in a professional manner in all situations with the public, donors, volunteers and staff.
  • Exceptional written, proofreading, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Passion for the mission of the Houston SPCA.
  • Able to drive, stand, bend, squat, walk, and talk for up to eight hours a day; able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and Outlook is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Raiser's Edge and/or EveryAction fundraising databases is a plus but is not required.
  • Occasional exposure to animals and related issues.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekend and evening shifts.
