The General Manager (GM) will be responsible for the entire property and directly in charge of all employees in all departments including sales, service, and general marina operations. He or she is responsible for the overall health and development of Boat Sales, oversees all aspects of the service departments operations, and plans, directs, and coordinates all marina operations and logistical movements. Owning to the dynamic nature of the position, the ideal candidate must possess a diverse skill set that lends itself strongly towards people management, time management, industry knowledge, critical thinking, and logistical practicality.

The General Manager is primarily concerned with growth through high standards and continual improvement. He or She will be driven to improve the experience for the customer while remaining focused on the income and expenses of the business. It is also his or her responsible for ensuring that staff in sales, service, and operations are properly trained and equipped with the knowledge, resources, and tools to efficiently complete job-related tasks.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of personnel across all departments
  • Stay informed on industries standards, best practices, and new technology that will improve the organization
  • Develop core competencies within the sales team; implement and enforce training plans
  • Collaborate with the team of Directors to develop clear vision and goals for all employees
  • Develop pricing strategies for each manufacturer and brand within the requirements of the brand
  • Review and approve all manufacturer orders and inventory control measures.
  • Manage, Plan, and coordinate events and travel when needed.
  • Monitors and assures efficient completion of all current and future service jobs.
  • Upholds positive customer relations and fields all customer-related issues, concerns, and inquiries.
  • Provides a safe working environment by abiding by local, state, and federal workplace regulations as well as internal policies that protect staff and customers.
  • Monitors and adjusts labor and physical resources to promote year-round profitability through expense ratio control.
  • Continually monitors key metrics (i.e., technician efficiency and productivity) and provides constructive feedback to achieve department goals.
  • Ensures adequate and effective interdepartmental communication and collaboration.
  • Communicates effectively with customers through a variety of mediums.
  • Make qualified decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals
  • Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of the marina business to ensure smooth progress
  • Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation
  • Oversee customer support processes and organize them to enhance customer satisfaction
  • Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability
  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors
  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations
 
Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of two years previous management experience in a similar industry
  • Adequate knowledge of boats and boating safety
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage human and physical resources
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics
  • Ability to create original ideas, organize people, and implement policy
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operational metrics
  • Familiarity with MS Office and various business software (e.g. supply chain, finance, customer service, etc.)
  • BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field preferred
