Turning Point Community Programs is seeking a Therapist-Court Liaison for our Justicia Program in San Joaquin County. Turning Point Community Programs (TPCP) provides integrated, cost-effective mental health services, employment and housing for adults, children and their families that promote recovery, independence and self-sufficiency. GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the administrative supervision of the Assistant Program Director or Program Director, this position is responsible for assisting members with all court related meetings and hearings and for providing individual and group therapy to members to support their therapeutic process.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is an at-will direct service position within a program. The position supports members with gathering the necessary information to complete their assessments and treatment plans. Will provide individual and group therapy to our members to support their therapeutic process. Responsible for interacting with collaborative Mental Health courts on behalf of members and the program and attending all court related meetings including member hearings as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSOIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

  • Completes psychosocial assessments and develops individual treatment plans for members; and, identifies client progress towards achievement of established goals;
  • Attends collaborative, mental health court meetings, advocating on behalf of members in the collaborative court setting, interacting with Behavioral Health Services (BHS), the court, probation, and law enforcement as appropriate to ensure the needs of members with justice involvement are being met.
  • Advocates for, and assists, clients and their families in accessing and receiving mental health treatment, medical care, housing, food and clothing, and other services, as appropriate.
  • Engages clients in the field, including meeting with them regularly at Turning Point, job sites, homes, board and care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, court and other appropriate sites.
  • Transports clients to appointments, court, and other locations in order to ensure the attainment of services.
  • Consults with or meets regularly with the client’s family, care provider or other significant persons natural supports with client’s consent; supports clients in developing age-appropriate social skills, harm-reduction techniques, and verbal processing through therapeutic means.
  • Completes and assists in the preparation of a variety of written documents and reports to include audits, treatment plans, Assists with chart audits, internal and external utilization review.
  • Provides consultation as needed to ensure appropriate member services.
  • Provides trainings to staff as appropriate.
  • Conducts individual and group therapy; intervenes in the event of crisis and communicates to appropriate individuals; provides “on-the-spot” counseling, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Education, Training and Experience

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field and active registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

  • California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration if driving; and,
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
