Dedicated Backhaul Coordinator  

Description

PURPOSE

This position impacts the organization supporting Dedicated Accounts by increasing profitability and utilization. Responsible for working as a liaison between Dedicated CLMs and USAT Logistics, USAT Truckload, and external Brokers to procure freight and fill empty freight lanes.

 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Function as primary contact person for all Dedicated backhaul operations for assigned accounts
  • Solicit and acquire daily, weekly, and monthly freight, from internal and external sources
    • Identify opportunities within current Dedicated, truckload, and logistics networks
    • Comprehend various load boards to fulfill needs
    • Solicit freight from contract customers and external brokers
  • Support drivers from pickup to delivery of backhauls
  • Understand analytics and needs of the backhaul operation
  • Effectively manage backhauls for major accounts and continuously build sustainable relationships with customers
  • Accurately book the orders
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Responsible for volume and revenue aspects of freight solicited
  • Coordinate with CLMs to insure all loads are matched and acknowledged to maximize efficiency
  • Reduce and manage deadhead
  • Continue to review and improve backhaul revenue and lanes
  • Coordinate with Network Manager (not sure what this job is called) to better identify strategic backhaul opportunities
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Four Year Accredited college degree in Business, Logistics, or industry equivalent
  • 1-3 years’ experience in supply chain industry, logistics, transportation and/or a related field
  • Transportation operations experience is preferred

Working conditions

This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Frequently operate a computer for extended periods of time and regularly operate other office productivity machines
  • Frequently communicate with peers, supervisors, third parties, and other employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions
  • Occasionally move up to 20 pounds of office objects
  • Occasionally attend meetings in buildings adjacent to corporate office requiring travel in outdoor weather conditions, and occasionally attend meetings at off-site locations with varied internal and external conditions; occasionally ascend/descend stairs.
