Laborers perform various physical labor duties on wet utility projects. 1. Operate hand and power tools of all types, such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. 2. Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials; while following all safety procedures. 3. Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. 4. Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones. 5. Guide equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials. 6. Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes. 7. Position, join, align, or seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections or pipes. 8. Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed. 9. Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications 10. Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures. 11. Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.10. Lubricate, clean, machinery, equipment, or tools as needed. 12. Operate jackhammers or drills to break up concrete or pavement. Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task. 13. Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager. 14. Follow direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite. 15. Digs, spreads, and levels construction materials.
