Category Office of the Principal  

Position Summary:
The Attendance Officer fulfills the mission of SHC by maintaining and managing all pertinent
student information with regard to attendance records. This position provides clerical support to
the Deans and Administration as well as providing information to students, faculty, staff and
parents. Non-Exempt, Full-Time, 10 month employee
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of SHC
  • Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of SHC
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school and student matters
  • Provides student data entry and record maintenance for the Administration
  • Directs and participates in daily attendance accounting work required to keep accurate school attendance records
  • Collects attendance from the faculty each day
  • Receives students in attendance office: prepares and issues admit slips to class, permits to leave school early, hall passes, and tardy slips
  • Prepares and prints school attendance reports and lists for distribution to faculty and other staff members
  • Responsible for maintaining student records in PowerSchool and Magnus
  • Responsible for maintaining and checking attendance email
  • Contacts parents for attendance and medical information or permission
  • Assists with all office and clerical duties as needed
  • Supervises student assistants
  • Gives medication to students as needed and keeps accurate records, including medications, physician’s notes and medical files
  • Assists the administration with starting and ending of the school year
  • Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by SHC
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
  • Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support the school
  • Communicates effectively and responds to messages in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Deans of Students

Position Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of use of office equipment
Must be able to learn and maintain record keeping programs- PowerSchool and Magnus
Ability to be self-motivated and work independently
Ability to work with others and relate to students
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
Certifications and/or Licensure
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Minimum Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent Experience: Experience as a secretary or administrative
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software
applications, Google/Gmail and internet usage, and; database management-Financial Edge
