Chief Financial Officer

Summary of Duties:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the Senior Management Team. 

Functions:

  • Provide leadership in the accounting and finance functions with responsibilities including financial planning, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, tax, operational reporting, revenue management for billing and accounts receivable, audits, purchasing, real estate and general fiduciary responsibilities for accounting operations, internal control structures, facilities and contract management in an entrepreneurial and growth-focused environment.  
  • Develop and direct all funding proposals and agreements; monitors financial indicators to support decision-making.
  • Meet reporting requirements for all funding and contracting bodies.
  • Oversee General Ledger functions; assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices.
  • Liaison to external auditing firms.
  • Prepare/oversee regular and specialized financial reporting for CEO and governing board, related to program performance, business plans and strategic opportunities.
  • Work with senior management to prepare budgets and ensure compliance
  • Manage, train and direct the efforts of the Finance team on all aspects of accounting and finance work to include maintenance of proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
  • Oversee grant accounting functions, including budget and expense analysis, in coordination with Senior Management.
  • Maintain other relations related to finance practices including with banks, payroll, vendors, and clients, as necessary.
  • Manages all cash management and treasury issues. Manages all capital budgeting
  • Develop cost reduction and other improvement opportunities and implement in partnership with company management.
  • Collaborate and contribute to Senior Leadership Team to improve overall company performance.

Reports to:

  • Chief Executive Officer

Span of Control:

  • Leads and supervises all lay practice finance staff, including related contracted personnel and consultants

 

 
Position Requirements

Job Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s prepared preferred.

 

  • Certified Professional Coder highly desired but not required.

 

  • 5-10 years related work experience with a minimum of five years’ supervisory/management experience required.

 

  • Strong Knowledge of professional billing practices and ICD-10 and CPT coding.

 

 

 

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other applications. Ability to work with and produce complex documents and perform analyses

 

  • Decision Making: Ability to make decisions that are guided by precedents, policies and objectives. Regularly makes decisions and recommendations on issues affecting a department or functional area.

 

  • Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are highly varied, complex and often non-recurring, requiring staff input, innovative, creative, and Lean diagnostic techniques to resolve issues.

 

  • Written Communications: Ability to communicate complex information in English effectively in writing to all levels of staff, management and external customers across functional areas.

 

  • Oral Communications: Ability to verbally communicate complex concepts in English and address sensitive situations, resolve conflicts, negotiate, motivate and persuade others.

 

  • Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate broad and comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex and/or unprecedented situations across multiple functional areas.

 

  • Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.

 

  • Customer Service: Ability to lead operational initiatives to meet or exceed customer service standards and expectations across multiple areas in a timely and respectful manner.

 

  • MUST have own transportation and be willing to travel within the Hudson Valley region of New York and Fairfield County, Connecticut.

 

  • Ability to change work hours on an infrequent but as-needed basis.
