We are seeking a Cook who:

  • Prepares/cooks high quality foods as outlined on the menu, including items for breakfast, lunch, supper and desserts.
  • Assists in food preparation and planning and provides direction to the dietary aides as needed
  • Works with the Dietary Manager to ensure appropriate menus/cooking plans for modified and therapeutic diets for residents
  • Helps coordinate and serves food to residents and ensures appropriate food temperatures and sanitation are maintained
  • Maintains appropriate portion control and emphasizes food presentation and quality control measures
  • Maintains order and cleanliness in work area, including clean-up of dishes and supplies
  • Demonstrates knowledge and exhibits sanitary food handling, preparation and storage techniques.
Position Requirements

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possesses ability to work with all residents, employees, visitors, and supervisors in a pleasant, tactful and courteous manner
  • Ability to read, understand and follow recipes
  • Knowledge of measurements and various cooking methods
  • Knowledge of food preparation standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma or equivalent desired; Certificate in food service and extended courses or degree in Food/Nutrition is desired
