An Aircraft Mechanic Lead will perform line maintenance on assigned aircraft to include inspection, operational test, removal, replacement, repair, and modification of aircraft. They will also assign, evaluate and direct work processes performed by mechanics. In addition, the Lead will provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction. Duties shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide direct supervision and perform all routine Mechanic tasks
  • Schedule daily work load requirements with available manpower to provide maximum utilization
  • Complete accurately all company, customer, and regulatory documentation
  • Operate all support equipment according to company regulations and policies
  • Troubleshoot and complete tasks to highest of safety standards
  • Work well and communicate with fellow staff members, and follow direction as instructed by supervisory staff
  • Maintain current and accurate lists of all parts at assigned station, or assign and oversee such tasks to other Mechanics or Stores personnel
  • Provide this information to Maintenance Control on weekly basis
  • Maintain list of all company owned equipment and tooling, and continually advise Manager of Maintenance of any items needing repair or replacement  
  • Leads will be responsible for accountability of company tooling on board aircraft in fly-a-way kit, ensuring all tooling is returned to such kit after each use
  • Monitor all manpower including contractors for work performance and effectiveness, attitude, punctuality, quality of work, and safety violations
  • Any issues will be resolved by the Lead, and if necessary, coordinated with Station Maintenance Manager or Supervisor
  • Responsible for initiating and forwarding maintenance delay and damage reports to  Manager of Maintenance Control immediately following delay or damage incident
  • Complete maintenance audits as required
  • Keep all company manuals at assigned station updated and in current revision status 
  • Maintain maintenance manuals on board company aircraft in current revision status
  • Performs duties significant to the Lower Minimum Maintenance Program (LMP) as specified in the GMM Chapter 12
  • Provide all involved manager(s) with daily updates, and aircraft status
  • Must be punctual, dependable and report for duty as required
  • Maintain an insurable driving record under Omni insurance driving guidelines
  • Perform such other duties assigned by Management
Position Requirements


  • Must be willing to work 10-12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Position may involve some travel
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. passport which allows unrestricted travel to all the countries where OAI may fly
  • Regular attendance during regularly scheduled business hours
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid A&P License
  • Minimum of 3 years heavy maintenance experience on a B767, and avionics
  • Valid state issued drivers’ license with clear MVR with no major moving violations within the past 3 years
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance
  • Must be able to pass a 10 year background/criminal/motor vehicle records check and pre-employment drug screen


  • High School diploma or GED (required)
  • Valid A&P license
  • B767 heavy maintenance experience and avionics required


  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Capable of using small tools (hammer, crowbar, and screwdriver)
  • Capable of using ground equipment (Forklift, Pickup Truck) and tow trailer behind pickup truck
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer
  • Stand – 80%
  • Walk –  15%
  • Sit – 5%
  • Travel - 1%


  • Careful workmanship and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions because of degree of responsibility
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow manual instructions to solve complex mechanical problems
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
  • Oral and written communication skill sufficient to prepare reports, and to discuss equipment malfunction
