Share Email Opening Title Manufacturing Engineer 2 (2020-031)  Astronics Subsidiary Astronics AES   Location Kirkland, WA   Description JOB SUMMARY Independently develop preliminary and detailed manufacturing plans, internal research and development, or sustaining activities. Apply knowledge of manufacturing and other engineering disciplines to ensure the technical link between design engineering and production is forged at the conceptual stages of the design. Apply creative ability to develop method of manufacture and repair to help lower product costs. Work in liaison with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Test on preliminary and regular program problems as they arise. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Work closely with the cross-functional design team in the development period ensuring the design satisfies requirements and is cost effective and practical to produce, test and repair. Establish manufacturing strategies and practices implementing innovative methods and equipment in support of Operations and Customer Return & Repair. Develop detailed manufacturing methods, rework addendums, standard work and other manufacturing tasks as required by the assigned project. Review, create, and coordinate the creation of detail drawings, bills of materials, and engineering procedures and guidelines as required by assigned projects. Designs and develops tooling and assembly aids for use in manufacturing. Supports the Rapid Response Team for mixed model, and other, assembly cells for immediate response to line stoppages. Develops performance metrics in support of overall performance, process improvement or elimination of waste. Perform other duties as assigned.   Position Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical discipline required from four-year college or university and two years related experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree when candidate or employee has demonstrated proficiency in the discipline at a similar level. Familiarity with FAA Certification, documentation and testing requirements for class 2 and 3 equipment as required by 14 CFR Part 21 and 25 a plus. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
