Key Responsibilities

Provides leadership, supervision, direction, and coordination of staff to ensure full provision of clinically sound services on a 24 hour basis. Promotes Wellness & Recovery Oriented Services and assesses outcomes for both consumers and programs/staff. Serves as a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides all needed support services to all enrolled consumers based upon their stated goals and desires in Individualized Recovery Plans. Administrates the Representative Payee Accounts for identified clients. Assures departmental goals and/or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame by performing the job responsibilities personally or through subordinate staff.

  • Assists the Director with development of clinical and administrative outcomes
  • Assumes responsibility for the development, implementation, and evaluation of all administrative functions for each team
  • Provides clinical guidance and supervision to clinical staff through group supervision, individual supervision, in-service training and case conferences
  • Responsible for ensuring the provision of individual, group, family and specific group counseling/therapy to clients and their families, as needed
  • Ensures staff coverage of scheduled therapeutic and activity-oriented groups
  • Ensures coordination of treatment services between the department and both internal and external providers
  • Conducts evaluations of client’s appropriateness for the program
  • Facilitates clinical staff meetings and provides direction/guidance to staff
  • Ensures that programming reflects acceptable standards for care
  • Ensures the department is compliant with all applicable standards; including DMHAS, Medicaid, JCAHO, Life Safety Codes
  • Ensures that all documentation is compliant with all applicable standards; including DMHAS, Medicaid as well as the agencies internal documentation policies
  • Ensures the databases and med sheets are completed monthly by the appropriate staff
  • Participates in all areas of discharge planning, including arranging follow-up visits with a mental health professional, communicating with insurance companies, and providing help with housing transportation, vocational guidance, legal assistance, support groups, medical care and referral to other services or agencies
  • Oversees the coordination of benefits: Tax rebates, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) and Rental Assistance Program (RAP) as well as medical benefits
  • Acts as an advocate for the client in ensuring continued quality of care and access to social services. Advocacy will include, but not be limited to, exploring possible funding sources for care, such as mental health coverage on insurance policies, Medicaid or Medicare
  • Provides and ensures clinical oversight for all team clients by ensuring that all cases are appropriately assessed on an ongoing basis and developing comprehensive treatment plans through the multi-disciplinary team
  • Reviews referral packets to assess clinical appropriateness for the program
  • Ensures the completion of psychiatric evaluations by the psychiatrist or APN
  • Assigns case manager to visiting client and ensures that the comprehensive assessment is completed within established timeframes
  • Ensures documentation of clinical portion of the comprehensive assessment
  • Ensures completion of monthly reports/surveys as assigned by the department director
  • Works with director to monitor department budget and tracks income in relation to budget goals

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a Mental Health or behavioral health discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Enrolled in a Master's program , Master Degree preferred
  • Two (2) years’ experience in providing treatment services to adult psychiatric population is desirable
  • Valid driver's license required and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance
