Email Opening Title DSSS - Associate Researcher (Data Scientist)  Location Princeton, NJ   Department Data Science and System Security  Description The Data Science and Systems Security Department (http://www.nec-labs.com/research-departments/data-science-systems-research/data-science-systems-research-home) aims to build novel big data solutions and service platforms that simplify complex computer systems management, and to develop new information technology that supports innovative applications, from big data analytics to the Internet of Things. Our research is both experimental and theoretical, covering many domains in data science and systems research, such as: time series mining, graph mining, text mining, anomaly detection, signal processing, cloud computing, data centers, software-defined networking and streaming processing. The goal of our research is to fully understand the dynamics of big data from complex systems, retrieve patterns to profile them and build innovative solutions to help end user managing those systems.  We have built a number of analytic engines and system solutions to process and analyze big data and support various applications in detection, prediction and optimization. Our research leads to both award-winning NEC products and publications in top conferences. Currently, the department is seeking data scientists to work in the area of data analytics and mining for complex systems. The ideal candidate is expected to analyze massive amount of monitoring data from complex physical and IT systems to model and analyze their complex behaviors.      Position Requirements • BS degree or higher in Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, Engineering or other quantitative program. • Good knowledge in data structures and algorithms, probability and statistics, machine learning and data mining. • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java/Scala/Go/C#/Python on Unix/Linux. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • U.S citizenship (preferred) or U.S permanent resident.
