Summary

BETAH Associates is a professional services firm seeking a Health Communications Specialist. The Health Communications Specialist will serve as a health communications expert responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of major, complex public health communication and marketing programs and campaigns. The Health Communications Specialist will also be responsible for supporting communications planning and implementation, strategic marketing, and communications support, brand integration, content development, strategic partnerships, developing and disseminating email broadcasts, social media messaging, webcasts, blogs, and e-newsletters.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support communications strategy and message development
  • Support the development of and execute effective and integrated communication plans, including strategies and tactics across all channels, and leveraging all communication opportunities
  • Develop clear messaging and channels for different stakeholders
  • Manage, develop, and maintain an editorial calendar and other key strategic tools, as requested, to implement, evaluate, and evolve internal communications
  • Manage communication projects, including tracking, reporting status, project budgets, and measurement of tactics
  • Write, edit and clear content as well as manage information dissemination about programs and activities through internal and external communication channels, including institute and agency newsletters, articles, webcasts, presentations, blog posts, websites, talking points, social media, and video
 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting government-related communications projects to include public health, health equity, and education.
  • Experience working within a government contracting firm
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and oral communications skills
  • Digital communications skills, experience leading social media planning, engagement, and management
  • Project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under deadline pressure
  • Ability to build and support strategic partnerships
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in M.S. Office Suite products (M.S. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Communications, Journalism, or relevant discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience with communications, marketing, program development, client engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with social media/digital content development -- from metrics to analysis to recommendations (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Ideal candidates will possess specific public health knowledge of HIV/AIDS, vaccines and immunizations, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, tick-borne diseases, blood and tissue safety, antimicrobial resistance, and hospital-acquired infections ideal.
