The Fleet Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve by facilitating collaboration between all branches and CDC’s throughout Van Meter to ensure consistency in fleet and delivery operations. The Fleet Specialist will lead efforts in facilitating Van Meter fleet maintenance, which includes preventive maintenance on all company owned vehicles, purchasing of trucks or other vehicles, and managing lease agreements. This individual will also assist in promoting safety and compliance within the delivery team. Additional responsibilities include working closely with customer service managers, branch leads, and the distribution center leadership to provide superior customer service and improve efficiency. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Develop strong working relationships with the delivery team, customer service managers, distribution center leadership, branch warehouse leadership, and Organizational Effectiveness team
- Responsible for managing the company’s delivery and personal fleet by maintaining asset listings, establishing maintenance and preventive maintenance activities, and negotiating contracts for maintenance services
- Ensures compliance with government rules and regulations and files paperwork in support of this compliance as needed, including driver certification, record keeping, FMCSA Reporting and proactively researching new DOT regulations
- Company ELD (Electronic Logging Device) management
- Delivery team training and support
- Analyze leasing options versus purchasing vehicles and negotiate these transactions
- Proactively look for future vehicles to serve customers better based on vehicle capability and green initiatives
- Own the process for job site trailers to support customer needs
- Manage IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement), taxes and licensing
- Assist in onboarding any new delivery team members’ across the company
- Manages the company’s delivery fleet operations, powered industrial trucks (forklifts) and company serviced vehicles
- Quarterly visits to branch locations for internal auditing
- Encourage creative thinking and continuous improvement across teams and branches
- Maintain adherence and promote safety policies and initiatives
- Promote our culture, engagement, and 5 P’s
