  1. Summary of Position: Responsible for conducting comprehensive initial psychiatric evaluations resulting in thorough assessment and diagnosis using DSM-V criteria (and ideally the biopsychosocial formulation model), and developing comprehensive interdisciplinary and multimodality treatment plans. This includes prescribing of medications according to FDA guidelines, assisting with linkage to a psychotherapist and case manager if needed, providing psychoeducation to the client, and other general health maintenance needs. It is mandatory that documentation be completed in a thorough and timely manner and that the employee work as part of an interdisciplinary team. As with any job, specific responsibilities are subject to changes as needed, including but not limited to the department under which the employee is designated and the employee’s specific role within that department.

Responsibilities

  • Works toward accomplishing and adheres to department/Agency goals, ethical standards and the laws and regulations which govern the overall mental and healthcare industries
  • Maintains confidentiality and immediately reports to management breaches in confidentiality
  • Practices job requirements on an accurate, timely and regular basis
  • Observes and maintains appropriate professional boundaries with clients, co-workers and supervisors
  • Attends all scheduled meetings as assigned
  • Meets relevant continuing educational/training requirements
  • Completes all required documentation/paperwork accurately and within established time-frames
  • Accurately and on a timely basis completes tasks required by the Agency’s time collection system
  • Fulfills all CPNJ mandatory requirements, as required by CPNJ
  • Knowledgeable of, and practices the organization’s health and safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to fire safety and emergency preparedness, infection control procedures and incident reporting
  • Delivers care to clients of all ages (within the scope of certification), develops therapeutic plans of care for prevention, management and maintenance of optimum health for individuals
  • Assesses, diagnoses, treats, manages, evaluates and monitors acute and chronic illnesses/health conditions, administers prevention services, and counsels psychologically challenged individuals
  • Completes corresponding documentation for services provided to clients
  • Orders, performs, interprets, evaluates, and reviews diagnostic studies and procedures
  • Prescribes and dispenses pharmaceuticals, evaluates outcomes and dictates changes in plans
  • Orders lab testing as appropriate
  • Makes referrals to health care professionals, specialists, other clinics and community agencies
  • Maintains client records in accordance with Agency Policy and Procedure
  • Monitors health status of client’s longitudinally
  • Reports health status of participants to the treatment team
  • Participates in the development of the participant’s recovery plan
  • Coordinate all medical care services, link consumers with specialty care and provide supports in accessing the care
  • Provide psycho-education and wellness related services
  • Serves as a consultant and collaborator to/with the treatment team, clients and community professionals
  • Assists/instructs other treatment team members in the management of client care
  • Ensures that client records are kept confidential consistent with the Agency policies and procedures and HIPAA standards. Monitors HIPAA compliance within the work environment
  • Provides coverage for peers when they are out of the office

 

 

 
Position Requirements

 Education/Qualifications 

  • Graduate of a state accredited school of nursing; MSN from accredited school of nursing
  • Certification by appropriate credentialing organization
  • One (1) year experience working with a psychiatric population
  • CPR certification.
  • Knowledge and experience of Universal Precautions
  • Knowledge and experience of Emergency Medical Treatment/First Aid
  • Must comply with continuing education as required by DMHS every two years
  • Certificates and Licenses:
    • Current and valid NJ RN license
    • Current and valid NJ APN certificate
    • Current and valid Federal DEA
    • Current and valid CDS
    • Current and valid ANCC certification
    • Current and valid CPR certification
    • Valid driver's license and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance
