STR is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to perform the following duties.  Coordinate with external partners to design and modify airframes and their auxiliary components Conduct mechanical, thermal, and vibration analyses of components and assemblies Design and build functional prototypes and test fixtures in support of a variety of disciplines Participate in data collections including experiment design and analysis of collected data Other duties as assigned   Position Requirements Required Skills: US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance MS or BS degree with 5+ years professional experience Experience and interest in airframe modification & design for payload integration Practical experience in mechanical design, machining operations, finite element, computational fluid dynamics, test design and execution in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics or related field Strong SolidWorks, Fusion360, or similar CAD tool skills Demonstrated proficiency with various advanced FEA/CFD tools such as ANSYS or Abaqus Interest and ability to work on across disciplines in support of complex group objectives Ability to interact with technical and non-technical customers and external teammates to understand their technical issues, frame potential solutions and develop collaborative projects Scientific curiosity and creativity Knowledge of one or more of the following topic areas: Airframe modification and design Heat exchanger design FEA/CFD Test develpment and execution   About the Organization Systems & Technology Research (STR) is a rapidly growing technology company with locations north of Boston, MA, Arlington, VA and near Dayton, OH.
