Operations Manager 


PAXTON VAN LINES is seeking a reliable and skilled OPERATIONS Manager, with dispatch experience, to oversee our moving, freight and warehousing operations.  The OPERATIONS Manager must have experience engaging with teams of professional contractors.  The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and ensure customer satisfaction.  Responsible for ongoin process analysis to achieve continuous improvement in operations.  

MUST HAVE valid CDL, proficient computer skills

Bilingual Spanish preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Talks with internal and external customers, via phone, e-mail and fax;
  2. Receives orders via computer from Paxton coordinators by established procedures;
  3. Reviews data input of coordinators for accuracy and coordination of labor;
  4. Coordinates with contract labor
  5. Distributes and supervises workload of the operations department personnel as well as HHG drivers, packers, helpers and warehouse personnel;
  6. Utilizes computer software for planning local operations;
  7. Maintains schedules for all division moving services;
  8. Oversees and/or inputs data for timecards for HHG hourly employees;
  9. Coordinates casual labor provided to contractors on an as needed basis;
  10. Performs the function of a Certified Weigh Master, as needed;
  11. Assigns or authorizes delivery windows on all local HHG shipments;
  12. Tracks and advises estimated times of arrival to customers, as needed;
  13. Schedules trash debris pick-ups, when required;
  14. Coordinates inbound/outbound storage activity;
  15. Assumes the role of trainer for moving and storage courses;
  16. Reviews applicants’ resumes, submits for background check and processes to H.R., when hired;
  17. Completes the Manager/Supervisor portion of New Hire/ISO Orientation with newly hired employees;
  18. Position may require occasional outside on-the-job supervision or driving;
  19. Resolves work related problems, as they arise, whether regarding customer complaints of dissatisfaction or employee’s interactions with regard to job performance;
  20. Other duties may be assigned.


Position Requirements
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Must have a valid CDL
  • Successfully complete a background check

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job requires supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associates degree from a two-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Individual must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Weigh Master Certificate, Valid CDL License
