Manufacturing Engineer

Location HDT (Cincinnati, OH)  



Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Coordinates the manufacturing launch for new or revised products.


  • Oversees the analysis and design of Lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and tools to optimize use of space, equipment, material and personnel
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of processes and related equipment
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results
  • Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
  • Develops work aids and/or documentation for products in order to train assembly personnel
  • Confers with supply chain and engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results
  • Designs, develops, tests, sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards
  • Applies statistical methods and perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency
  • Represents manufacturing and/or engineering on cross-functional teams
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering


  • Minimum 5 years related experience required including but not limited to technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment, and machine tooling/design
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen events
  • Experience AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar programs; CNC programming experience is desired; strong knowledge in written product specifications


  • Ability to organize and manage multiple products through manufacturing process
  • Demonstrated skills in preparing written instructions for the production of welded joints. Familiar with codes, specifications, standards and other aspects of fabrication and assembly
  • Proven expertise in designing of welding and assembly fixtures for large systems
  • Robotic welding experience desired
  • CWI/CWEng certification desired
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors and employees/managers at all levels within the company
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Experience in ERP systems, SAP desired
