Education and Experience
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification is required. If you do not have certification, we will provide the training necessary for you.
- Required: Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification is required. If you do not have certification, we will provide the training necessary for you.
- Preferred: Previous experience developing and facilitating curriculum.
- Preferred: Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Term of Service
To successfully complete their half-time year of service (900 hours minimum) and become eligible for their education award, AmeriCorps Members must serve an average of 20 hours per week between September 14, 2020 and August 13, 2021.
Opportunity Village campuses are open five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 7am to 7pm. Classes taught by Education Specialists will be offered in two schedules, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, each day at Opportunity Village’s two main campuses. Education Specialists are expected to be available to teach at least three to four days a week during these windows. The rest of a member’s service hours will be filled through content development and other education-related activities and can be completed flexibly and/or remotely, on a schedule developed with approval from the AmeriCorps Program Manager.
This position does not duplicate work of previous or existing employees or volunteers, supplant the hiring of workers, or include service or duties that have been performed or were performed by a current employee, an employee who recently resigned or was discharged, an employee subject to a reduction in force, or an employee who is on leave.

AmeriCorps Member Eligibility
(a) Eligibility. An AmeriCorps participant must—
(1)(i) Be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of service; or
(ii) Be an out-of-school youth 16 years of age at the commencement of service participating in a program described in §2522.110(b)(3) or (g);
(2)(i) Have a high school diploma or its equivalent; or
(ii) Not have dropped out of elementary or secondary school to enroll as an AmeriCorps participant and must agree to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to using the education award; or
(iii) Obtain a waiver from the Corporation of the requirements in paragraphs (a)(2)(i) and (a)(2)(ii) of this section based on an independent evaluation secured by the program demonstrating that the individual is not capable of obtaining a high school diploma or its equivalent; or
(iv) Be enrolled in an institution of higher education on an ability to benefit basis and be considered eligible for funds under section 484 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1091);
(3) Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
(4) Pass a National Sex Offender Public Website Check and National Service Criminal History Check
