Seeking a Bilingual, Intake and Eligibility Specialist

Our Intake and Eligibility Specialist identifies the patient’s needs and provides linkage to services at Northern Nevada HOPES. The Intake and Eligibility Specialist engages patients through the initial intake by completing a needs assessment, orienting them to the processes at HOPES, linking them to services,  explaining payment options and helping them enroll in Medicaid and Medicare services. In a typical day, an Intake and Eligibility Specialist may speak with patients seeking appointments, schedule new patient appointments, explain resource availability to patients, assist patients in obtaining state, county and local program assistance, and educate patients on benefits and services. The Intake and Eligibility Specialist receives a warm hand-off from the Service Excellence Navigator in optimizing the patient experience and continues the excellent first impression initiated by the Service Excellence Navigator.

Position Requirements

We are looking for:

  • Bilingual required.

  • Able to exercise empathy and understanding required.
  • Able to communicate and listen effectively required.
  • Demonstrated extraordinary customer relations, quality service, and dedication to providing the highest quality of services to our clinicians, staff, and patients. Ability to establish rapport quickly with diverse population required.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA protocols preferred.
  • Prior experience working with an underserved populations including those experiencing homelessness and/or a serious mental illness and/or substance use, individuals who may be experiencing a health crisis, or members of the LGBTQ+ community preferred.

About the Organization Northern Nevada HOPES is a nonprofit community health center in downtown Reno, NV that offers integrated medical care and wellness services. We welcome patients, wherever they are in life, and provide them with compassionate, high-quality healthcare.

Our growing list of services includes adult and pediatric primary care, chronic disease management, wellness and nutrition, behavioral health counseling, substance use counseling, case management, a pharmacy, and more. For medically underserved populations, our one-stop-shop healthcare model reduces barriers to care and increases the likelihood of maintaining long-term health. HOPES accepts most insurance plans, Medicaid, Medicare, and the uninsured. For the uninsured, we offer discounted services based on a sliding fee scale.
