Corporate Controller

Description

Responsible for day to day operations of the general accounting team and managing the firm's financial information.

This role will may be filled in EYP's Albany, NY, Boston, MA, Washington DC, Atlanta, GA, or Houston, TX offices; Albany, NY is preferred and relocation will be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements (FAR, ARRA, etc)
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • Establish and maintain GAAP-compliant accounting, design and implement appropriate financial controls and procedures
  • Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
  • Provide mergers and acquisition accounting advice
  • Oversee activities related to the company's ESOP and 401k plan
  • Oversee corporate income tax filings to ensure accuracy and timely completion
  • Timely reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
  • Oversee the activities of the general accounting group within the Finance department, including accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, fixed assets, joint ventures and leases
  • Accurate and timely dissemination of financial information and management reports
  • Oversee disbursement activities and monitor daily cash flow position
  • Assist the CFO in matters related to financing and credit
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to accounting team, and others as needed
  • Act as an integrated, collaborative member of the Finance team
  • Respond to requests for finance related information and support
 
Position Requirements
  • BS/BA in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or related field; CPA preferred
  • 15 years of accounting and finance experience required; prior managerial and controller experience required
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles required
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations required
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and statements
  • Must have strong computer skills and advanced spreadsheeting skills
  • Experience in Deltek ERP preferred
  • Must be able to provide leadership to the Finance team
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Prior experience with an ESOP preferred
  • Prior experience in architectural or engineer firms strongly preferred
