Psychosocial Program Coordinator 

Description

The Psychosocial Program Coordiantor manages psych-social program activities, exploring and creating funding opportunities, and promoting strong relationships in the community with mental health providers.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Develops the curriculum, defining criteria to determine client eligibility, work collaboratively with treatment team, and handles logistics to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Coordinates/Organizes schedules of activities of Psychosocial programming, including but not limited to treatment planning, therapeutic groups, team meetings, documentation of services and implementing evidence-based services.
  • Leads staff to deliver group services to meet the needs of the clients, guiding and mentoring to ensure adjustments are made in response to client needs/dynamics.
  • Provides training to staff to ensure solid understanding of expectations, assess ability of staff’s capacity to perform/deliver services, check progress, and take necessary action.
  • Contributes to the expansion and advancement of the program, promoting program services and offerings in the community, speaking to community groups and referral agencies, partnering with Communications in developing brochures, seeking out other referral sources (e.g., nursing home facilities, homeless team, community agencies, etc.), responding to inquiries, etc.
  • Helps produce grant submissions to generate additional funding by partnering with the Director of Development, helping identify potential grant opportunities, gathering and submitting information to be included in the grant application, aiding in the development of a budget, providing content, etc.
  • Manages recreational and art supplies including ordering of additional supplies as needed
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree and licensed in the State of Kansas as a Qualified Mental Health Provider (QMPH).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience running adult groups, with specific experience managing and running therapeutic and social skills groups preferred.  Practicum and/or field experience may be considered.
  • Able to work in an environment serving persons diagnosed with a mental illness.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Be able to work independently, with minimal direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate group interactions/discussions, foster participants to engage, and manage team dynamics.
  • Excellent organizational skills a must.
  • Able to be flexible and adapt to different group dynamics, client needs, and treatment modalities.
  • Solution-focused and ability to identify innovative and creative approaches to meet the clients’ needs.
  • Strong technology skills, specifically proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Ability to establish and cultivate effective working relationships with all Organization staff and community agencies.
  • Exhibit leadership characteristics, willingness to provide direction for program development, training, and able to motivate staff to deliver high quality services.
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Awareness and ability to apply recreational and other modes of treatment as a healing tool and a need in social services fields.
  • General knowledge of grant development and/or willingness to learn and understand basic concepts.
  • Willingness to travel to other facilities and/or community sites.
