Description

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring proper screening of patients, visitors and associates completed to ensure the health and safety of all are maintained. Could assist with the efficient and orderly registration of all patients requiring and/or requesting services from Hancock Regional Hospital. Insures that accurate information is obtained for the patient's Hospital medical record.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Associate is capable of delivering care/service appropriate to patients/customers.
  • Initiates screening process as designated by the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and policies initiated by Hancock Regional Hospital to maintain the health and safety of patients, visitors and associates.
  • Interviews patients and/or responsible other parties for accurate information necessary to complete the Hospital Registration Record as needed.
  • Verifies all information for accuracy when registering and/or pre-registering a patient or accessing the computer history file.
  • Provides the billing department accurate information for the billing of patient accounts.
  • Demonstrates the ability to embrace and adapt to change and regularly initiates ideas to improve the efficiency and processes of the department.
  • Provides patient and/or responsible party all required forms per departmental procedures.
  • Provides and communicates with Nursing Units, Physicians, and ancillary department personnel required information for patient care and accurate patient identification.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge on all applicable insurance requirements, governmental and hospital.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School education or equivalent with courses in typing and general office skills.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Experience in computer operations.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
  • Successful experience in working with general public. Mandatory Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Corporate Compliance (including Confidentiality), Infection Control, and education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and/or Hancock Regional Hospital. . An approved course in Medical Terminology with a passing grade within one (1) year of hire date.
