PRIMARY PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITION

Assists in the treatment of patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Participates as an active member of the rehabilitation team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides treatment to patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Records treatments given in the patient’s medical record and in department’s daily billing records in accordance with established policies and procedures. Instructs patients, families and staff in maintenance programs as directed by the Occupational Therapist.  Participates in patient care conferences and rehabilitation department meetings.  Communicates with supervisor and other interdisciplinary team members regarding patient’s progress, problems and plans.
  • Participates in the continuous quality improvement of rehabilitative services as demonstrated by patient outcomes data.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and clean work environment by complying with department’s policies and procedures.  May assist with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area and equipment.  Protects patients and associates by adhering to infection control policies and procedures at all times.  Assures confidentiality of patient and departmental information. 
  • Demonstrates at all times the Values of Lakeview Village, working collaboratively with other staff to best meet the needs of each resident. Provides to each customer (resident, patient, family, fellow staff members, and others outside the organization) excellence in service at all times.
  • Assures that services are provided at all times in accordance with applicable regulations, guidelines and standards of practice.
  • Maintains and continually improves professional competency by attending seminars or in-service training, reading professional journals, and networking with peers.
  •  Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • Graduate of an American Certified Occupational Therapist accredited school of occupational therapy.
  • Currently licensed to practice in Kansas and registered by the AOTA.
  • Memory care experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, display a kind, courteous attitude, and work as a team member with patients, family members, staff and others.
  • Ability to hear, read, write and speak English when performing work duties, which require this need.
  • Ability to write the English language with proficiency while performing job duties, which require this need.
  • Position requires the individual stand, walk or move about during 90% of the workday.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, grasp, push, pull and to lift or assist in transferring patients weighing up to 250 pounds.
  • Must be able to see, hear, communicate and write effectively.
  • Exposed to chemicals, odors, and body substances on a routine basis.
  • May be exposed to stress or hostile or combative patients.
