Position Responsibilities:
Support the establishment of the EHS objectives and targets; internal reporting of EHS performance via Key Performance Indicator metrics, the communication of national and local regulatory requirements and assist in the creation of a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes
Ensure compliance on all state and federal OSHA, worker compensation, DOT environmental and EPA regulation
Maintain all environmental, health, safety and security programs, procedures, practices and training necessary to provide for safe and healthy working conditions for employees
Facilitate and coordinate joint safety committee and monthly meetings
Coordinate internal and external safety audits, leads injury and illness investigation, identify root causes of accidents and implement corrective, preventive measures to avoid future injuries and track the implementation of recommendations to completion
Facilitates risk assessments to identify critical EHJS hazards and aspects by works with the leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks
Provide supervision and direction on worker injury issues and the administration of workers compensation claims
Partner with HR in the management of worker’s compensation administration and plant light duty programs
Maintains site certification and assures accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics
Manage Environmental programs including Universal waste, Storm water, waste water and obtain necessary certifications.
Complete Annual government reports
Basic Qualifications:
BS degree in Environmental Science, Safety and Health or Engineering from an accredited institute
5+ years’ experience in the safety of an automotive/manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Hazardous Material Manager
Some management experience preferred
Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site
Knowledge of OSHA, general industry standards and environmental rules
Ability to assure compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulation affecting manufacturing
Proficient experience in the use of Microsoft office
Strong organizational, initiative and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills with extreme accuracy of work
