SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse - Clinic Coordinator will oversee the daily patient flow and medical component of the clinic. This position functions as a Registered Nurse within clinic setting. In addition, they will be responsible for the supervision of the registered nurses and medical assistants and responsible for the patient triage process. Within this managerial role the Clinic Coordinator should possess exceptional interpersonal skills for patients and co-workers, mediation skills, the ability to lead by example and initiative to continually educate clinical staff. The Registered Nurse Clinic Coordinator is responsible for training, evaluating, and initiating disciplinary action. This position is also responsible to make sure each clinic adheres to state and federal guidelines and regulations. Current RN license for State of California and minimum of two years of experience in a medical facility required.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees and/or performs clinic triage nursing, inclusive of interviewing, assessing, and determining the appropriate intervention for the patients.
  • Schedules patient appointments.
  • Supervises medical assistants in all aspects of delivery of care.
  • Coordinates scheduling of medical assistants.
  • Provides continuing education hours and in-service training to medical assistants, and responsible for educational material delivered as part of RN licensure.
  • Functions as RN within clinic setting, assisting practitioners in all aspects of care as required and within BRN regulations.
  • Responsible for assuring clinic compliance with all state and federal licensing requirements.
  • Responsible for assuring that the medication room is in compliance with state and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Reviews resumes, participates in interviews, and recommends for new hire of medical assistant staff in conjunction with administration.
  • Continuously evaluates medical assistants and conducts performance reviews as scheduled.
  • Mediates issues with staff and patients as needed.
  • Oversees exam room stocking of supplies and handouts, as well as cleanliness and safety of exam rooms.
  • Attends Operations, Quality Assurance, Site Management and other meetings as required.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work as a member of a team in order to communicate and/or solicit pertinent information to and from other team members and support team decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and exercise sound and responsible judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal. Ability to establish constructive working relationships with all levels of employees in a staff of varied and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to effectively represent ODCHC’s interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among co-workers, public, private, and professional groups.
  • Adherence to ODCHC’s attendance policy.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in nursing leading to license as Registered Nurse State of California.
  • Two to four years supervisory experience in a medical facility.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current RN license for State of California.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Medical Assistants.
  • Responsible for training, evaluating, and initiating disciplinary action for all employees supervised.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Speaking and hearing sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person, at normal volumes.
  • Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms etc.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
