Email Opening Title Building Inspector  Close Date   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt   Description POSTED UNTIL FILLED JOB SUMMARY The position involves engaging in building inspections to ensure compliance with the adopted county building code. Work involves ensuring residential and commercial buildings meet the required building code standards; inspecting new home construction, existing home construction, commercial buildings, fire damage, mobile homes, etc.; inspection can include structural, electrical, mechanical, some plumbing, flood assessment, and electrical emergency reconnects.   Position Building Inspector   Position Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent; Five (5) years of relevant experience in the building industry; Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licenses or Certifications: Must possess a certification as a residential or commercial inspector from the International Code Council or be able to obtain certification within an agreed upon time for continued employment. Must possess a valid State Driver's License. Special Requirements: Many situations may require early morning or late evening hours. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge and ability to use tools, materials and techniques of the building trade. Skills in effective written and oral communication. Ability to learn the adopted county codes and ordinances, and division practices and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees and the general public Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
