The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be the world’s premier museum dedicated to the art and science of movies. Located on Wilshire and Fairfax in Los Angeles, the Museum will be simultaneously immersive, experimental, educational, and entertaining. The Security Officer is an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to join the operations team. Under the supervision of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer is assigned to work within the museum building at an interior and exterior area, theater, lobby, gallery, indoor space near elevator or escalators or on top of our outdoor terrace area.

 

The candidate must be able to work a variable schedule to include weekends and holidays. The scheduled hours may change weekly due to museum events.

 

Security Officer: Entry Level

Duties and Responsibilities:

Security and Safety

  • Assigned to regular or special posts; assignments may change daily and without notice
  • Maintains high visibility while on assignment
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming presence
  • Patrols assigned areas on foot, conducts security tours assisted by electronic device as assigned to ensure personnel. visitors, building, and exhibitions security
  • Greets visitors, provides information, direction and other assistance to ensure a positive visitor experience
  • This position requires standing for long periods of time (up to 6 hours per shift)
  • Ensures that all business appointments are verified and that staff members are contacted upon arrival
  • Assists visitors and staff in the safe evacuation from the building. May respond to incidents and emergency calls according to Academy Museum policy
  • Enforces Academy Museum security policies and procedures using good judgment and excellent public relations skills. Refers unresolved concerns or issues to shift supervisor
  • Ensures all scheduled business appointments are verified and properly directed to staff or museum department
  • Watches for and reports irregularities, such as suspicious activity, security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations. contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required. Prepares routine, standardized reports and notifications to security management
  • Participate in daily roll call and training
 
Position Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience as a security officer position with a museum, event or public performance venue, or similar institution.
  • Experience interacting with general public in a professional manner- courtesy, positive demeanor and good judgement
  • Experienced working in a Business or Employee entrance lobby
  • Experience issuing staff or visitor ID badges and maintaining a daily accountability log
  • Experience in a security related field is a plus but not required
  • Experience in building evacuations and emergency response preferred but not required
  • Must possess guard card/security license according to state requirements

 

We are hiring for SWING SHIFT (1400 to 2200 hrs.).
