Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Program Services for Opportunity Village’s residential community Betty’s Village (BV), the Residential Services Manager/QIDP (RSM/QIDP) manages the application, review, and assessment process of each individual to receive residential supports at Betty’s Village.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. In compliance with Opportunity Village, federal, state and local regulations, ensures Betty’s Village is managed in a manner that assists residents in achieving the highest quality of life.
  2. Interviews applicants, assess (independent living) skills, and provides recommendation to the Residential Relations Subcommittee (RRS).
  3. Review applications and conduct interviews for non-disabled individuals and provide recommendations to the RRS.
  4. Presents applicant to the RRS to review and discuss appropriateness of applicant to live in the community.
  5. Inform accepted residents for placement.
  6. Assist residents in adapting to BV and using community amenities.
  7. Ensure Quality Assurance in accordance with agency policy, practice and regulations with the following: health and safety, rights, and mandatory reporting on abuse, neglect and exploitation.
  8. Hire, supervise, train, and develop Activity Coordinators consistent with Opportunity Village’s culture, mission, values, policies and procedures, as well as, federal, state and local regulations.
  9. Engage residents consistently to assess the quality of their provider’s support services and their satisfaction with services.
  10. Ensures residents are free from incidents of mistreatment.
  11. Promotes natural supports for residents with non-disabled residents.
  12. Ensures community safety and security goals are met and maintained.
  13. Continuously evaluates community services and supports and makes recommendations for additional services.
  14. Conducts resident council meetings and follows up with recommendations of the council members.
  15. Conduct monthly home inspections with residents.
  16. For resident concerns, provide information to allow residents to connect with caregivers, Supported Living Arrangement (SLA) providers, and Desert Regional Center (DRC) services.
  17. Ensure that community environment supports individuals and their interests.
  18. Create and circulate an activity calendar to all residents each month.
  19. Promote community events and to connect residents with their community
  20. Develop community partners that provide recreational and entertainment activities for BV residents.
  21. Knowledge of crisis management resources.
  22. Communicate effectively with residents, families and caregivers, and OV management.
  23. Communicate with and maintain positive relationships with community partners who contribute and provide activities for residents at BV.
  24. Complete paperwork, as necessary, to meet Opportunity Village, federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  25. Assist in research, development, and application process to become a certified SLA provider through DRC.
  26. Participate throughout the certification process including but not limited to: Developing and submittal of the SLA application, DRC interview process, DRC provider training, and organizational training.
  27. Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Computer savvy: working knowledge of, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to think on one’s feet and manager crises and provide referral sources
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage various caseloads including: , assessment and analysis, preferably in behavioral health and/or with intellectual disabilities
  • Ability to resolve multiple complex issues simultaneously while remaining calm in stressful situations.
  • Must possess initiative and work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to conduct tasks and successfully perform under critical deadlines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field
  • Required: Three (3) years’ experience working directly with persons with intellectual disabilities.
  • Required: Current Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) Certificate
  • Required: Three (3) years’ experience working in a Supportive Living Environment
  • Required: One (1) year managing people. 
  • Required: Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history.
  • Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification is required or the ability to supply certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Required: Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to lift and move boxes up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit at a computer for prolonged periods of time and work in a typical office environment.
  • Must be able to stand, and walk for prolonged periods of eight (8) hours or more.
  • Must be able to twist and bend at the waist
  • Must have manual dexterity and visual acuity to type frequently, operate office equipment read and write frequently, and examine documents
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders as needed
  • Ability to tolerate stress.
  • Ability to travel locally for work and drive residents when needed.
  • Ability to work in varied weather conditions and shifts.
