Summary/Objective:

The Packaging Operator is responsible for producing quality products through the efficient use of assigned packaging equipment. 

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure that assigned packaging equipment is operated in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures, and that processed product meets all applicable specifications.
  • Perform and document in-process inspections of equipment being operated.
  • Assemble and disassemble assigned equipment and all related components.  Perform appropriate cleaning as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Monitor performance of equipment during operation and make adjustments as mandated.  If necessary, notify designated personnel of setting changes and document adjustments appropriately.
  • Assure that all logbooks, master records, and other official documents are completed in a correct and timely manner.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts to ensure continued operation of assigned equipment.
  • Assist team in other areas as directed.

 

Required Education and Experience:

•             High School Diploma or equivalent.

•             Mechanical aptitude.

•             Fluency in the English language.

•             Able to perform required repetitive lifting tasks.

Preferred Education and Experience:

•             Prior production/packaging experience.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the plant. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. This position is very active and the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl all day.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects or frequently lift and/or move objects 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Objects weighing 70 pounds or more must be accompanied by a second individual to avoid injury.
