Description

Astronics Test Systems is looking for a Senior Applications Engineer to join our Radio Communications Test Systems team which is responsible for developing hardware and software necessary to perform functional and diagnostic testing on various electrical assemblies (Unit Under Test, or UUT).  This position will involve understanding and capturing customer requirements and creating new designs to meet project needs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis on UUTs to understand the functionality of the UUT and to determine test requirements.
  • Design interface adapters requiring generation of an electrical schematic or wire list of wiring to connect the UTT input/output (I/O) to the test station I/O.
  • Implement test requirements defining input signals which can be applied to the UUT and in turn determine the corresponding outputs.
  • Generate object oriented software using the appropriate programming language to control test station or test system assets used to apply stimulus and measure outputs.
  • Perform troubleshooting as required to determine failure conditions during development and reported by end users.
  • Usage of LifeCycle DevOps.
  • Use of revision control software for all source and document data.
  • Perform software validation and verification testing.
  • Provide product demos and on-site training to future and end users.
  • Travel and customer interface may be required.
  • The ability to work within a group and individual environment. 
  • Assist in mentoring inexperienced engineers of gaining knowledge in tactical and airborne TPS/APS development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience and understanding in the application of principles, theories, concepts, practices and standards relating to modern software-defined architectures.
  • Fluent in and ability to demonstrate Object Oriented Design practices.
  • Analytical reasoning and problem solving with knowledge in performing root cause analysis and recommending correct action to resolve test failures.
  • Experience with using communication and/or bench test equipment to include but not limited to oscilloscope, multimeter and audio generator.
  • Experience in tactical/airborne radio logistics.
  • Knowledge of RF Measurements.
  • Experience with software development in C++ and C# required. 
  • Knowledge of Labview desired.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a US person.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (BSEE) with emphasis in Computer Science is preferred.

Computer Skills:

  • Experience with software development languages, such as C, C++, C#, MATLAB, and LabVIEW.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
