The Sensors Division focuses on technology development for advanced sensor systems, particularly in the areas of airborne/surface-based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging and EO/IR sensing. Within this role, we perform work at full system prototypes, experiment campaigns and technology component development. Particular development roles within the Sensors Division include RF analog/digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing algorithms, machine learning algorithms, tracking/fusion, as well as real-time embedded processor implementation.

STR is hiring a senior Software Architect who will be responsible for leading requirements analysis, design, development and operation of applications with attention to security, scalability, performance, availability and cost/revenue optimization. The Architect will have expertise and leadership working with leadership, management, development and operations staff to architect innovative solutions that meet customer requirements with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability, implementation schedules and adherence to architectural goals and principles.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead requirements analysis, design, development and operation of applications
  • Management of the development team's day-to-day execution including developing and integrating the development schedule and cost with the program plan, the team may include both STR and subcontractors.
  • Ensure that the team follows software development best practices to develop high quality code
  • Interface with other system leads, customers, and other development contractors
 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • A minimum of 8+ years demonstrating engineering leadership experience with proven track record
  • Skilled at leading and directing the activities of large development teams
  • Management experience including cost/schedule status reporting, and metrics reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with customers and program management effectively and professionally
  • Agile Development Experience working with the ScrumMaster and Product Owner to plan and execute sprints
  • Development experience in C, C++, Python using a Linux development environment
  • Working with devOps and test engineers to define a Continuous Integration Pipeline, automate nightly builds, and run automated unit and system tests

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Security Clearance at the Secret or Top Secret (TS) level
  • Experience with RF, Radar, or Underwater Acoustic systems
  • Background in Math, Physics, or Digital Signal Processing
  • Embedded systems development experience
