The Sensors Division focuses on technology development for advanced sensor systems, particularly in the areas of airborne/surface-based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging and EO/IR sensing. Within this role, we perform work at full system prototypes, experiment campaigns and technology component development. Particular development roles within the Sensors Division include RF analog/digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing algorithms, machine learning algorithms, tracking/fusion, as well as real-time embedded processor implementation.

STR is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to help our company improve developer productivity, reduce time to release, and optimize the developer experience. The ideal candidate is one who enjoys technical work yet is able to collaborate with others to deliver incremental features while moving toward achieving long term goals.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as a point person with corporate IT to ensure that infrastructure toolsets are configured, maintained, reliable, and kept up-to-date.
  • Research and help qualify new versions of existing infrastructure based on needs within the department
  • Assist multiple teams in standing up CI/CD pipelines for their software projects utilizing Gitlab, Jenkins, or other CI/CD systems
  • Own responsibility for correct operations of key infrastructure, driving strategic improvements to ensure scalability across the group
  • Participate in multiple Agile/SCRUM teams across a variety of projects advocating for and educating engineers on solid DevOps fundamentals while helping to implement solid processes.
  • Research, qualify, write, and deploy new tools and systems
 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Fluent in at least one statically typed, object-oriented language (such as C++, Java, or C#) and one scripting language (such as Python, Perl, Ruby)
  • Well-versed in using git as a source code repository
  • Experience with multiple Linux distributions: RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian/home-grown
  • Experience with Gitlab, Docker, artifact repositories (such as Nexus or Artifactory), JIRA, Confluence, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and provisioning tools (Ansible, Chef)
  • Experience with development tools such as Vagrant, static code analysis (SonarQube, Coverity), and linters.
  • Previous experience working as a member of an Agile/SCRUM acting in a DevOps role and mentoring other engineers on embracing DevOps processes.
  • Organized, good attention to detail, with the ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced operations environment with frequent interruptions and irregular hours
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Security Clearance at the Secret or Top Secret (TS) level
  • Experience with a full web serving stack, including databases, logging, and monitoring
  • Experience with NISPOM/DSIC/STIGs or other government security standards.
  • Basic working knowledge of MATLAB tools
  • Experience designing and deploying Kubernetes clusters and pod configurations
  • Experience dealing with commercial vendors for support and sizing, negotiating, installing, and maintain licenses
  • Professional experience managing development tools including revision control systems and continuous integration environments
  • Experience leading or managing teams
