Share Email Opening Title Emulation Engineer  Category Engineering   Description STR is hiring an Emulation Engineer who is deeply interested in producing emulation/virtualization solutions for research, analysis, and prototyping of cyber-physical systems. Duties will include but are not limited to: Working in small research teams to develop innovative capabilities for rehosting and analyzing software, firmware, and hardware associated with cyber-physical systems Creating and instrumenting virtual machines/devices to represent a variety of software environments and hardware types Developing automated tools for control, instrumentation, snapshot/restore of emulated system state Collaborating with vulnerability research and assessment teams to develop emulation tools, workflows, and infrastructure Researching novel hypervisor and virtualization solutions to push the boundaries of portability, flexibility, and speed Developing orchestration tools for carrying out automated, scalable emulation-based experiments and analysis Developing and using verification and validation tools   Position Requirements Required Skills: US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or related field (or equivalent) Experience with QEMU, Unicorn, VirtualBox, Simics, bochs, VLAB, or other hypervisor/emulation toolsets Knowledge of hardware architectures / ISAs (e.g., x86, ARM) Motivated collaborator and effective communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C/C++, Python, etc. Desired Skills: Active Security Clearance at the Secret or Top Secret (TS) level Experience with any of the following: OS internals (e.g., kernel modules, interrupt controllers, device I/O) Embedded peripherals, interfaces, and device drivers (UART, USB, PCI, SPI) Development, integration, and testing in distributed environments   About the Organization Systems & Technology Research (STR) is a rapidly growing technology company with locations north of Boston, MA, Arlington, VA and near Dayton, OH.
