Responsible for 10-12 VMs on Windows Server platform servers and 140 workstations (including Windows and Mac). Provides technical support to Museum personnel for hardware, software, network and related equipment issues. Directs the recovery of files in case of media failure. Ensures operational documentation and inventories are kept current. Designs training courses to initiate new personnel on standardized software packages (e-mail, etc.). Identifies trends in equipment errors. Participates in equipment and software moves and installations. Performs each function with integrity, adhering to current applicable rules, regulations, departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Responsible for daily operations of all computer-related functions of the Museum. Maintains cyber security measures, training and mitigation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides daily administration to a Windows Server network (10-12 virtual servers) including backup/ recovery, software patches, user add/delete, monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Administers Active Directory and Office365 mail with 100+ users.
  • Administers 21 managed switches.
  • Administers 50+ Wi-Fi access points
  • Administers routine security and performance audits of LAN.
  • Reviews and revises security access and procedures to ensure the security of the IT facilities, equipment, data and personnel regarding computer issues.
  • Responsible for configuration and troubleshooting of all computer systems.
  • Updates, maintains and documents hardware and software inventory.
  • Develops written procedures for qualified backups and continuity and ensures compliance with these procedures.
  • Provides Hardware, Connectivity and Software support to end users.
  • Maintains warranty and service agreements.
  • Keeps abreast of technological changes.
  • Participates in various projects as needed including hardware and software needs assessments, upgrades and migrations.
  • Provides support of the following SQL databases: Blackbaud Financial Edge, and Raisers Edge software, Siriusware POS software and hardware, ability to call, converse, and implement software updates of the aforementioned vendors.
  • Primary interface with IT managed services vendor.
  • Troubleshoots software issues including vendor service requests and follow through.
  • Operates Audio-Visual equipment in the theater and/or other locations for special events.
  • Attends weekly Special Events meeting to ensure Museum needs are met, including AV support and conveys information to the AV Technician.
  • Maintains hardware refresh specifications and schedules.
  • Responsible for budgeting IT hardware, software and database management services.
  • Works with CFO on IT projects and staff training.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the Audio Visual/Information Technology Assistant/Technician (one employee). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Minimum qualifications for Information Technology/Audio Visual Specialist is a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Management Information Systems or related field, and two to three years Network Administration experience with Windows Server.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP
• Heavy troubleshooting experience with creating and maintaining Windows servers and Windows desktops
• Excellent organization skills
• Familiarity with Mac PC's a plus
• Familiarity with Windows Powershell a plus
• Flexibility in working schedule is required

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Excel Spreadsheet software and Internet software.
