STR is hiring an Algorithm Developer to be part of a multidisciplinary team of cyber researchers and engineers dedicated to developing cutting-edge technologies with significant and immediate impact on our national security. An applicant for this position should have experience developing algorithms applied to large data sets for analysis, constraint-based search and optimization, autonomy and planning, machine learning, networking, or agent-based software design. Applicants will be responsible for collaborating with researchers and software developers to design and develop capabilities within modeling frameworks, applied to simulated and real datasets, develop algorithmic solutions to unique and challenging problems, and to characterize performance using statistical analysis techniques relative to metrics.

Duties may include:

  • Work as part of a small, focused team to design and develop, implement, test and analyze mathematical algorithms in modeling software frameworks
  • Implement algorithm prototypes in Python, C/C++ and/or MATLAB
  • Characterize performance using statistical analysis techniques
 
Position Requirements

Required Skills:

  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance
  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Cybersecurity or related field
  • Experience developing mathematical and physics-based algorithms for constraint-based search and optimization, autonomy and planning, machine learning, networking, or agent-based software design
  • 3+ years of relevant experience (possibly including PhD research)
  • Motivated collaborator and effective communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and/or MATLAB, as well as other higher-level languages
  • Experience using source code management (Git, Subversion)

Desired Skills:

  • Active Security Clearance at the TS level
  • Exploitation development
  • Implant or software patch development
  • Familiarity with compiler fundamentals
  • Knowledge of binary file structures and formats
  • Assembly Languages (x86, ARM, etc.)
