Schedule Monday-Thursday 6:30 am-4:30 pm for a maximum of 6 months. Hours will vary based on departmental need.  
Pay Rate $16.00/hr.  
Description

SUMMARY
Responsible for cleaning and painting fire hydrants throughout the city and property maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Cleans and paints hydrants throughout the distribution system.
• Helps maintain Water Works property grounds.
• Drives mower, trucks, tractors and uses various hand tools related to base maintenance.
• Hauls dirt, debris and waste.
• Assists crew with Water Works repair.
• Inputs computer data entry as needed.
• Submits safety essay for Evan Sear’s Scholarship Award.
• Keeps daily log sheet.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as delegated.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Must be able to follow direction and implement safety procedures at all times.
• Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedules.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.
• Ability to lift and/or move 100+ pounds.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Valid Driver’s License required.

EQUIPMENT
Lawn tractor, weed eater, utility truck, calculator, personal computer with keyboard and internal software, telephone, fax and Photocopier.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in wet and/or humid conditions and is exposed to airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to loud. Employee must wear issued safety shirt and safety glasses at all times.
