Federal Government Experts is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting professional to join our team as an Accounting Specialist/Controller. This position will be stationed in the Washington D.C. Metro Area.
Qualified candidates should have the initiative and desire to work in all aspects of our accounting department, the ability to learn and work with database specific software, have a deep knowledge of DCAA standards, and have experience working with federal contractors
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
Services include accounting, Tax planning, and tax preparation, accounting consulting, FO Outsource Services.
Accurate and timely creation of financial management reports including, but not limited to, monthly financial statements, annual audits and annual budgets.
Ensure the accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Respond to CEO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.
Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts: bank accounts, credit cards, and payroll liabilities, prepare amortization schedules. Prepare monthly financial reports and deliver to client on a timely manner.
Must be proficient with Deltek Costpoint, and other accounting software
Assist Managers in providing tax compliance and advisory services to clients in various industries
Prepare business and individual federal and state tax returns
Upkeep proper records for each client following the formats established within the company, and may assist on the yearly preparation of payroll forms such as: W-2’s and W-3, 1099’s and 1096,State reconciliation reports 940 reconciliation report. Prepare sales taxes reports.
Prepare quarterly/annual payroll tax returns and related tax deposits
Respond to tax authorities on behalf of clients and assist clients with tax audits
Identify tax issues and work with management to determine timely and efficiently including impact of enacted and proposed legislation
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business.
5-8 years of professional experience as a Controller/Accountant
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in the use of DelTek Costpoint, spreadsheet programs and other software applications for financial analysis.
Fluent in English.
Ability to work on-site in the Washington D.C. area part-time.
Flexible to work nights and weekends as required.
Prior experience working for a U.S. government contractor.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field.
