The Director of Individual Giving is an outstanding opportunity for a fundraiser to manage a robust Individual Giving program supporting the building of a strong annual campaign and launching a new capital and endowment campaign. You will be a metrics-driven major gift fundraiser, experienced in working with volunteer leaders and high-level prospects, able to manage colleague gift officers, a growing membership program, and donor stewardship services.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Advancement and External Relations, you will manage the following positions: Associate Director, Major Gifts; Manager, Annual Leadership Giving; Manager, Advancement Services, Sr. Manager, Membership & Annual Giving, Director of Planned Giving, and an Administrative Assistant. They will be actively involved in the creation of a new capital and endowment campaign as well managing a portfolio of prospects.

You Will:

  • Create, oversee, and monitor strategies to achieve Individual Giving goals as part of the Academy Museum’s Annual Giving program and new capital and endowment campaign
  • Work closely with professional and volunteer leadership, deploying them to cultivate and solicit gifts
  • Manage and refine systems to track performance metrics and increase pipeline development, including strategic use of research
  • Manage prospect activity for your portfolio and track progress of direct reports
  • Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors
  • Develop appropriate cultivation strategies
  • Move potential donors in an appropriate fashion toward solicitation, gift closure and stewardship
  • Make solicitations at times
  • Maintain stewardship contacts with donors
  • Work with the Director of Planned Giving overseeing the creation and implementation of a new Planned Giving program
  • Work with the Manager, Advancement Services, to monitor prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations and stewardship
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • 7+ years successful progressive experience in individual fundraising, preferably in the arts
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Success in supervising and motivating staff
  • Knowledge of metrics-based moves management
  • Experience raising multiple six+ figure gifts with broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising
  • Knowledge of Planned Giving Vehicles
  • Developed cultivation and solicitation strategies as well as cold calls
  • Film background and knowledge of the movie-making community a plus
  • Knowledge of SalesForce a plus
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
