Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. We provide academically rigorous, vibrant learning grounded in social justice and student centered pedagogy. Our entire community is committed to cultivating each student's unique talents and passions, providing myriad opportunities for students to discern and realize their individual intellectual, artistic, athletic, social, and spiritual potential. SHC is a San Francisco Archdiocesan High School that is cosponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, District of San Francisco New Orleans and the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Position Summary

The Director of the Piro Program and Student Support Services provides leadership and vision to ensure the academic success of and coordination of resources for students from the Bay Area's most underserved communities at SHC and into college. The Director works with current and prospective students, their families, and young alumni to ensure that the students' academic, social, and personal needs are met, and serves as college advisor to students in the Piro Scholar Program. The Director of the Piro Program and Student Support Services is supervised by the Assistant Principal for Academics, oversees the Piro Program and Student Support Services staff, and collaborates with SHC faculty and staff who serve these students.

The Director of the Piro Program and Student Support Services is a full-time, twelve month position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Models for students the characteristics of a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic educator;

  • Helps acheive SHC's mission and philosophy, especially our commitment to providing the finest education in an inclusive community;

  • Directly oversees the Piro Scholar Program and Student Support Services, maintaining updated policies/handbook as well as a programmatic vision for excellence and metrics to measure success over time;

  • Coordinates and directs all support services offered to students from economically fragile families, including students in our Piro Scholar and S3 programs;

  • Acts as the administrative liaison for the Piro Scholar Program;

  • Provides detailed reports on student achievement and graduating senior Piro Scholars;

  • Serves as SHC's primary liaison to DeMarillac Academy, Bay Scholars, and outside agencies who partner with SHC to support Piro Scholar and S3 students;

  • Collaborates with the Director of Enrollment Management and Director of Admissions to effectively implement all outreach programs, including outreach programs to the De Marillac Academy, Irish for a Day, Open House, and personal/group tours;

  • Collaborates with the Admissions Office in the selection of Piro Scholars and supports families in the application and financial aid processes;

  • Works with the Director of Enrollment Management in the evaluation of financial aid applications;

  • Develops and manages a comprehensive stewardship program and data reporting for scholarship fund investors, the SHC Governance Board and Office of Advancement, fostering meaningful relationships between students and investors;

  • Oversees the annual budget for the Piro Scholar and S3 Programs, which covers resources such as textbooks, athletic and travel fees, and meals;

  • Collaborates with the school and summer school administration, school counselors (including Academic Resource Specialists), and Academic Support Center personnel to design and facilitate support programs such as the Piro Scholar Program Orientation, summer enrichment, and academic support programs for Piro Scholar and S3 students;

  • Serves as the College Advisor for Piro Scholars and may serve as college advisor to students from the general student body;

  • Oversees social media communication for the Piro Scholar Program, including SHC's learning management system and collaborating to ensure information is accessible to second language families.

  • Participates in Counseling and Advising Department meetings and workshops.

Supervisory Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Director of Counseling and Advising, supervises the Assistant Director/School Counselor for the Piro Scholar Program.

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills;

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills;

  • Strong organizational skills;

  • Spanish bilingual ability preferred.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization;

  • Master in counseling, student services, educational leadership, or similar fields;

  • Experience working in Catholic education preferred;

  • Experience working with under-resourced students preferred.

Certifications and/or Licensure Required:

  • Pupil Personnel Services Credential or equivalent

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft software applications, Google Suite/Gmail and internet usage, and; database management. Must be proficient with Power School, Magnus, Schoology and related software programs.
